There's something a little sad about approaching the end of a gift calendar, because the fun is nearly all had...but Sadie's excitement prevailed.
Day 11 is written right under a painted LDD coffin on the box, and inside the drawer, another gift!
And Sadie should have known...it's her own specific Mini! Series 1 Sadie!

I was immensely relieved when my first glance at this Mini in person showed a decent head/body color match.
S1 was the most important Minis Sadie to bring in, and I wanted her perfect.
Sadie's hair is like the S1 original's, but has a more layered cut where the hair toward the front is shorter and slopes backward. The hair feels good after washing and combing, just like S1's did, and did frame her face enough to work for me.
Sadie's Minis faceup is essentially identical to the S1 doll's, save for the differences in sculpt changing things and some more curved eyebrows. S1 Sadie refused to change back to her black dress for a full comparison, but she did a face shot.
Mini Sadie's dress is extremely simple and matches the original, while being even less elaborate on the construction--no finishing on the cuffs or hem. Some black felt was peeking out past the white of the collar fabric toward her neck, so I later trimmed that out of view. Like some other Minis pieces, this dress velcros completely open down the back like a doll shirt rather than opening partially and sliding down her body. I wish this had been the case for Mini Schooltime Sadie's dress!
Sadie's skintone is less pink than that of her two Minis from the Minis S2 era, and her body seems to be hard plastic unlike the vinyl rubbery limbs of Bedtime and Schooltime. The color is also much better matched, if not perfect.
Did LDD make manufacturing changes during the Minis S2 period only to walk them back and return to hard-plastic limbs from S3 onward? Strange. Maybe they saw the S2 era was not an improvement in manufacturing.
Minis S1 Sadie is just as simple as her original doll, and again, it's the root of her charm. She's an absolutely adorable retro-feeling mini doll, and her body coloring consistency and material make her feel the most polished of all of my Mini Sadies. You see her standing on a table and you just want to pick her up, pop her in a pocket, and take her on an adventure.

This is definitely my favorite of the three mini series-release Sadies. She's charming and had the least problematic flaws. This is great, because I've had big plans for her for a while. More on that coming up.
I had actually planned to have the Mini Sadies in the calendar in reverse order of what I did (which is to say, the chronological release order of the full-size originals), but I got them the way I did and it worked out to have the first and best last.
They're quite a collection.
So many Sadies. I think it's nice the last is your fav, good things should be near the end. :)
