LDD Loose Ends

This is just a quick wrap-up of dolls I left in limbo. It's a good time to post these because my Damien project is being held up by a desk I ordered being caught in limbo, and I might have to get a refund if the seller doesn't respond and confirm it's being shipped soon. Theirs looked like the perfect prop for the dolls, too. Fingers crossed it works out.

BONUS PHOTOSHOOT: DiDi DiPterri

Back when I started this blog two years ago, I was more ideas than execution, and some of my doll subjects just didn't get many or any elaborate or fully-presented photos. Since I've now established a practice of quick update posts with more photos of dolls I had ideas or means to shoot with after their original review, it was high time to rescue a very old favorite: DianĂ©e "DiDi" DiPterri, my Monster High OC based on The Fly (1958).

A Living Dead Dolloween, Part 7: A Vintage Halloween Custom!

The Living Dead Dolloween is almost over, but I had to throw in one last short new entry before the finale.

A few months ago, when reviewing Grace of the Grave, I discussed how her bumpy, pitted, mouth-cut head sculpt was a total one-off, and speculated on potential other use cases it could have been applied to were it chosen to be repurposed. While the head sculpt had no time to be reused before the switch to ball-joint bodies shut the door on several unique sculpts in the very next series, I still thought maybe some creativity could have given it more life, and the holes and bumps made me think of a character themed around the Moon. This idea came back to me closer to Halloween as I realized I could customize a Grace into a vintage Halloween moon fit to add to the Series 32 cast.

Living Dead Dolls Workshop Roundup

Here's my current policy--if a Living Dead Doll is loose and incomplete, its chances of being completed again are next to nil because loose parts for LDD are so rare on the aftermarket...so loose dolls missing things are fair game for customizing. I had a pressing need to take advantage of that policy, and I went on quite a journey with some other fun projects as a result!

This will be the LDD Roundup for July, because the next trio of dolls I want to round up will require location-specific photos taken on vacation in early August for full project completion. Quack and a standalone doll will feature this month and this is a roundup, but I'm not listing this in the series of canonical doll roundups.

Left Out Dolls: Re-Resurrected

I've kind of dropped out of my Left Out Dolls fervor for a while now. This might be the last post in this category as my base doll pool for this series is shrinking (Rainbow High is, by all appearances, dying, Shadow High is done) and other things are driving my attention. So here we go!

ROFL, XD, GOOD 4RLZ?: Investigating L.O.L. O.M.G. Dolls by MGA Entertainment, Part 2

TT&T has already decided L.O.L. O.M.G. is so. not. it, bestie. Flopped the vibe check, hunny. Gag-o-rama! The vibes were totes off, queen!

But we're, like, so totally not done yet!

Literally, Can I Even?: Investigating L.O.L. O.M.G. Dolls by MGA Entertainment, Part 1

I host a critical space here through my reviews, but I don't aim for a cynical one. But the topic at hand here and in the next post is something I'm not included to look at with an optimistic mind, and my holiday was also quite bitter, so I'm riding that wave a little.

Left Out Dolls: The Return!

My relationship with Shadow High has shifted a bit since I made it my governing obsession with the Shadow High Deep Dive series of posts (part 1, part 2, part 3, and epilogue).
